All About PAN card
The permanent account number (PAN) is important in the income tax returns and for financial transactions, such as sales of property and investments. It’s not mandatory that it should be updated every time. In case of signature mismatch or error, in the photo, the holder is required that a new, revised card bearing the same number is issued with the effective changes.
Applicants have to fill the application form online ‘Request for new PAN card or changes or correction in PAN data form’ on the NSDL website. The holder must carefully check the left box where changes have to be made.
Acknowledgement: When the holder will submit the form an acknowledgement screen will be displayed, which the applicant is required to save, print and sign. The applicant must also affix 2 coloured photographs.
Documents: The holder is required to provide identity and address proofs with the change request. Any changes or corrections made in the form should be supported by relevant documents..
Fee: The fee for processing the change request in the card is Rs 85, besides the applicable service tax. It can be paid through any of one cheques, credit/debit card, demand draft or via Net banking
Points to remember
