The account of the customer is debited, but the account of the beneficiary is not credited.
Scenario: You initiated an IMPS transaction through a branch, and the customer’s account has been debited (the balance has been deducted from the customer’s account), but the beneficiary account has not been paid (the fund has not reached the intended party).
The customer will receive a message that says, “Your last transaction has been timed out.”
Background: Under NPCI regulation, in such a case, the beneficiary bank would manually credit the beneficiary’s account on a T+1 basis (the next business day after the transaction), after the reconciliation phase is completed.
Solution: Please inform the customer that they must wait-1-day (ideally fund has to reach the intended Beneficiary through manual credit)
The IMPS department will charge back against the beneficiary bank after verifying the status. After -3 days, the customer’s account will be refunded (subject to beneficiary bank’s failure to reflect our Bank’s chargeback within -3 days through giving manual credit).
The customer’s account was debited, but the funds were refunded.
Scenario: You initiated an IMPS transaction through a branch, the customer’s account was debited (the sum was deducted from the customer’s account), and the transaction was reversed in the customer’s account.
The customer will receive a message that says, “Technical issue.”Alternatively, ‘Your fund transfer has been rejected.’
