Mercedes-Benz took this long to launch a competitor for the BMW X6. It doesn’t have the ‘chunky’ looks as X6 but is better looking and more well-proportioned.
It is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 churning out 362 horsepower. It’s paired to a new nine-speed automatic transmission, and it sends power to all four wheels, conveniently called the 4Matic all-wheel-drive system. There are five different driving modes that one can opt for via a rotary control.
Mercedes claims that the ride feels, reflects, and drives like a true sports coupe, with the only exception for the raised seating. The interior is also an impressive place to be, decked out in with AMG sports seat, carbon fiber, leather upholstery, and the piano lacquer trim. There is enough space for five, and there’s also an optional panoramic glass roof. Mercedes also claims the car boasts the most cargo room in its class.
Why should you buy a Mercedes-Benz GLE?

- The broad range of power choices
- Including a fuel-efficient diesel model
- A plug-in hybrid

Why should you not buy it?
- Heavier than it looks
- Feels wallow-y in corners
- Loud at speed
- The underwhelming base V6 engine carries over
- Expect limited rear headroom
- Cargo space in the coupe model
